Saona Island

The Saona Island it’s located in the Southeast end of the Dominican Republic, it’s the biggest island of the Hispaniola, it is part of the National Park of the East side of the island and serves as a sanctuary to several species of migratory birds. There are an extend of solitary beaches of refined white sands and crystalline waters and surrounded by millions of coco palm trees, there are some caves that remind us of the presence of the native Tainos of the island, coral reefs and deposits of fish and seashell ideal for diving, it has the denominated “Natural Swimming Pool”, it’s a small crystalline water lagoon where right at the bottom you can observe innumerable species of fish and starfishes among others, it also has birds like the flamingo. There are 112 species of birds registered within the limits of the park, corresponding to half of the total species of birds in the country. Of that total, 8 species are endemic of the island and 11 species endemic of the Caribbean area. The manatee is a marine mammal in danger of extinction specie and you’ll be able to see also dolphins.

Hump whales

One of the most beautiful tours in Dominican Republic is the visit to the Sanctuary of the Hump Whales in the Bay of Samana and the “Banco de Plata”, located in the Northwest of the country where every year, between the months of December and April, 3,000 Hump Whales come to reproduce in warm waters in the coasts of the Atlantic Ocean. Until recently one thought that only 85% of the Hump Whales of the Atlantic were born in Dominican waters and annually return to mate and reproduce. However, recent study revealed that all the populations of the North Atlantic come to reproduce in our waters.

Altos de Chavón

This village of Altos de Chavon began its construction in 1976. By Charles Bludhorn, president of Golf & Western Corporation he was the one that had the idea to create this Mediterranean village of century XVI as a birthday gift to his daughter in the “Altos de Chavon” River. The Italian Roberto Copa was in charge of making this idea of Bludhorn a reality. This village will carry you to the Mediterranean Europe with the most spectacular views of the Chavon River and the Caribbean Sea.

Altos de Chavon has a Church, restaurants, galleries of art, a Taino museum, stores, discotheque, a school of artists, school of design and an amphitheatre. The school of design in Altos de Chavon is associated with Parsons School of Design in New York.

The Church of San Estanislao is in the center of the village. Its name is in honor to His Holiness John Paul II, for San Estanislao is the Saint of Poland, country of birth of its Holiness the Pope.

The amphitheatre of Altos de Chavon has 5,000 seats. It was open in 1982 with the presentation of Frank Sinatra and Carlos Santana, many other artists and groups of rock have passed by this beautiful stage like Heart, English Beat, America, Tania Maria, Scandal, Sergio Mendes, Juan Luis Guerra, Michel Camilo, Spiro Gyra, Duran Duran, etc. Nowadays they continue presenting throughout the year entertainment shows of national and international artists.

This Mediterranean village is a source of inspiration for the artists who live, study or work there.

El Limon Waterfall

El Limon Waterfall is located in a tropical forest in the peninsula of Samana.
