Tourist Attractions

Places you never dreamed…

The Hotel BAHIA PRINCIPE TENERIFE is located in Costa Adeje, to the South of Tenerife. This area owes its tourist success to the kindness of its climate and the calm waters of its coast, where the fishing abounds. In this town, that includes part of the Beach of the Américas, there’s the Barranco del Infierno, impressive narrowness of upholstered vertical walls of vegetation and in which bottom you can barely reached to distinguish the sunlight. In its walls have appeared numerous funeral caves Guanches. Adeje has several tourist urbanizations like Callao Savaje, San Eugenio and Marazul.

Playa de las Americas (Beach of the Americas) and Los Cristianos (The Christians) constitute the true tourist emporium of the South of Tenerife, when uniting, the tropical climate, the sun and its golden beaches with the existence of the most modern hotel facilities. And if to that you add the nightlife that emanates from it, in its restaurants, bars and discotheques, you will find the ideal place where to spend your next vacation. Without forgetting that from this tourist place you will be able to visit the most interesting sites of the island thanks to its complete road system.

TOWNS AND CITIES

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the border of the ocean, is the capital of the island. Its 230,000 inhabitants enjoy a cosmopolitan city characterized by great avenues, cozy plazas and lively streets. Walking by its gardens and boulevards you will be able to contemplate a permanent exhibition of sculptures in the streets, with works of art from world-wide known artists. Its rich monumental architecture is apparent in the Churches of Concepción and San Francisco, the Palaces of Carta and Insular, the Castle Castillo-Fortaleza Paso Alto and the Castle of San Juan, just to mention a few. There are in addition historical and anthropological museums, cultural centers and theater. The Beach of the Teresitas, of golden sands, extends to just a few kilometers from the center, next to the marine district of San Andrés.

Puerto de la Cruz is the main tourist center of the North of the island. It emphasizes Lago Martiánez, masterpiece of the international artist Cesar Manrique. Also we suggest a visit to the Park of Taoro - where the Casino is located -, vast vegetation extends above the city, the Botanical garden that dates from 1,788 and lodges plants and species coming from the five continents and well-known world wide Loro Park.

The Orotava extends over an intense green of plantains on the valley that takes the name of this village, characterized by its monumental architecture and its majestic form. It has been declared a monument of national historical artistic interest. La Casa de los Balcones (The House of the Balconies) is a jewel of the traditional style of the island. In the mountains of the Orotava an ample complex of tourist footpaths extend along, some of which conclude in the Cañadas del Teide, protected National Park. The village has beautiful gardens, like the Hijuela del Botanico, with 3,000 different vegetation species, in its majority tropical and subtropical, and there’s three beautiful beaches of black sand in the vicinity.

Arona also welcomes important tourist sites, like Beach of the Américas and Costa del Silencio. Los Cristianos was a small district of fishermen that still have the original/ traditional flavor, in which it has raised a true tourist emporium. Arona has an extensive very cosmopolitan and concurred pedestrian zone.

La Laguna, located in the middle of a beautiful countryside, is the second most important city of the island. Its drawing up city-planning, which surprises by its exactitude and precision, is sprinkled of remarkable constructions, palaces and majestic mansions of the centuries XVII and XVIII, emphasizing also the religious temples.

THE ARCHITECTURE

The traditional architecture from the island, the one of the majestic large houses and the one of the humblest and most popular houses, resides mainly in the sources of Andalusia and Portugal, although it is set with its own personality. Inner balconies, patios, simple facades and the generous use of the wood, especially the island pine, are common elements to the traditional houses.
